I lost my husband suddenly in early 2022. When this happened, my world collapsed, and my heart broke in two. It was physically painful—I felt like I had a huge void in my chest. I developed panic attacks to the point where driving became dangerous. I knew I needed to do something about it.

Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now) and Michael Brown (The Presence Process) taught me that pain can be healed by allowing it to exist and fully feeling it. After all, we are divine spirits living a human experience. One of our main purposes in life, among others, is to truly feel. Our spirits do not have bodies; they incarnate to experience emotions that only humans can. In doing so, they learn and continue moving forward on the path to wisdom.

When we push our emotions and feelings aside, we only delay the inevitable. Pain will resurface later in life as illness, crisis, or deeper anguish. However, when we surrender to it, the pain will gradually transmute into peace. It’s similar to a crying toddler—she will continue to cry until we listen. If we don’t, she’ll cry louder. If we continue to ignore her, she may grow bitter, and one day, she’ll explode. If, instead, we listen and comfort her, she will calm down and find peace.

This was my experience. I dedicated time and space to truly feel and listen to my pain. After two weeks of practicing this technique, I healed my pain, and the panic attacks stopped completely.

The Process:

  1. Sit quietly and scan your body with your mind, starting from your toes and slowly moving upward.

    • If the part in question feels at peace, thank it and continue moving upward until you find a troubled area. This will most likely be around your abdomen or heart (solar plexus and heart chakras).
    • Place your hands on the troubled area. Observe it and feel it without judgment—just allow it to be and listen to it.
    • After a little while, reassure yourself that everything will be okay. Use any words of encouragement that come to mind. Imagine comforting a toddler version of yourself with love and compassion. Then, notice how the pain dissipates.
  2. Continue moving upward until you reach your crown. You can finish by giving yourself a hug if you feel called to do so.

If you’re too distressed to meditate, you can play White Light Frequencies by Alana Fairchild. This music will help you concentrate and may release a lot of emotions—which is exactly what we’re aiming for!

Dedicate 10 minutes twice a day for at least two weeks. You can repeat this practice beyond that timeframe if necessary.
